ICAO visits the RUMBLE Sonic Boom Simulator

On the 19th of June 2019, the ICAO Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP) WG1 visited the Sorbonne University premises in Saint-Cyr-l'École, France where the RUMBLE sonic boom simulator is located.

The WG1 members had the opportunity to see the sonic boom simulator in action. As part of RUMBLE Work Package 3, the simulator has been developed by Sorbonne University and CNRS in order to insonify a campus house with low boom and investigate the human response to it.

The RUMBLE Project Coordinator and partners had fruitful discussions with the members of ICAO CAEP WG1, while both sides agreed that the outcome of the RUMBLE sonic boom simulator experiments is being awaited with great interest.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 769896.
